Baptism Information

Baptisms at St. Josephine Bakhita Parish

Baptism is the sacrament that welcomes us into the Christian Community. Because of this, baptisms generally take place during any of the weekend masses, with the exception of Christmas Eve, Christmas, Lent, Palm Sunday, and Easter Sunday. A separate celebration of baptism can be requested but will be accommodated only at the availability of the clergy.

  • First time parent(s) having a child baptized will meet with a clergy member for a 1-hour class prior to setting a date.
  • A date cannot be set until the clergy have reviewed the request.
  • At least 1 Godparent must be a Catholic who has received Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation and at least 16 years old.
  • Students of High School age or Adults must go through the OCIA process and be baptized (with First Communion and Confirmation) at the Easter Vigil Mass.
